Sir George Herbert Pollard (20 Oct 1864 – 27 Aug 1937) was a physician, barrister and Liberal politician. He was educated at Oxford and Edinburgh Universities and received a Bachelor of Medicine degree from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1886, and was the first prizeman in Public Health.
In 1888 he married Charlotte Elizabeth Butterworth.
He was called to the bar at the Inner Temple in 1893, and was elected mayor of the Borough of Southport in 1897. He was an active participant in Liberal politics, and stood unsuccessfully for election to parliament at Southport in 1892, and Chatham in 1895. In 1906 he was elected MP for Eccles, and held the seat until the 1918 general election.
He was a member of the General Council of University of Edinburgh and assistant to the Professor of Midwifery at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
During the First World War he was a medical advisor to the Ministry of Munitions on poison gas and chemical warfare.
He was knighted in 1909

Born April 1839 as the Illegitimate son of Charles Scarisbrick (1801-1860) and he died 15th January 1923.
He was married to Bertha Petronella Schoenfeld who he met whilst spending part of each year in Frankfurt.
In 1885 he was one of 27 founders of the Southport (later renamed Hesketh) Golf Club and became a Director of Southport Visitor in 1888 and appointed as a County Magistrate in 1890.
Sir Charles donated £7,000 towards the building of a new Infirmary in Southport and when it was opened on 26 September 1895 at a total cost of £25,000, the children’s Ward was named “Bertha Ward” after his wife. The infirmary provided accommodation for 60 patients in men's, women's and children's wards.
He was elected Mayor of Southport 1901-02 and was president of the Union Club in 1904, the same year he was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire.
He was also President of the Southport Divisional Conservative Association.

Born 1872 in Liverpool; Died 15th July 1946.
Educated at Rugby School and Christ Church, Oxford.
He married his wife Mary in 1902, at Saddleworth, Yorks, and they went on to have one daughter Barbara, born 1904.
He was elected a member of Birkdale UDC in 1902, and was the Chairman 1910-11. and following the amalgamation with Southport he became a member of Southport Town Council in 1912 and became Mayor the same year (1912-1913). He resigned from the Council in 1920,
A keen mountaineer and cave explorer voyaging widely across England and Wales as well as spending time in Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium.
In 1908 he was elected as an Ordinary Member of the Fell and Rock Climbing club, and went on to publish numerous geological papers.
Secretary Southport Scientific 1899- 1908 – twice being President.
He was also prominent in thespian circles.

Born 30th August 1882 at Manchester. Died 12th August 1963 in Southport.
A Stock and share broker by profession, he was Hon Secretary of Lancashire County Lawn Tennis Club for quarter of a century and represented England v Ireland in 1913, and played at Wimbledon in the men’s singles in June 1914 unfortunately loosing 6-2 5-7 6-2 6-3 to George Karidias in the first round.
Towards the end of the First World War (26 January 1918) he was commissioned as a second Lieutenant in the Army Service Corps.
He was a past President and Founder member of the Rotary Club of Southport, Captain of (Royal) Birkdale Golf Club 1937.
Councillor representing Birkdale West Ward between 1928 and 1941 and an Alderman 1941 to 1963. He was elected Mayor of Southport 1945/46.
As well as being a Director of the Prince of Wales Hotel, he was also at one time Treasurer of the North of England Children’s Sanatorium, Treasurer of the League of Pity and a Warden and Churchwarden of St. James’ Church, Birkdale.
